With the sucessful destruction of the last of the 8’ Giant Lobsters, Thraim looked up and to the left again. Meanwhile the remaining party members (mainily Lord Lanceabit) looted the large fish creature from the previous room. Lord Lanceabit secured two magical Javelins of Lightning and a magical net.
Given that Kerreth’s rod still pointed down and to the left Cyric the nobal volunteered to venture forth under water and investigate (utilising his Necklace of Adaptation and Thieve’s Sight spell). After a cursory look into the deep dark hole (where the 8’ lobsters had emerged from) seeing nothing swam to the island.
As Cyric pulled himself onto the island he felt a light touch on his mind trying to invade his thoughts. Fighting off this feeling Cyric observed a 20’ fish with 10’ tentacles lurking on the other side of the island preparing to launch itself at him. Doing as only Cyric does he activated his Ring of Jumping for the second time to leap to safety while yelling “FISH”. Timing is everything for as he lept so did the fish, launching itself across the water (where Cyric was positioned moments before) toward the waiting Lord Lanceabit, Kerreth and Sly. Simultanenous “Casting a spell could be heard”.
As Magic Missiles lept from the fingers of Kerreth and Sly, Lord Lanceabit could be heard saying “wait, I don’t think its real……” and at this point the illusion collapsed in upon itself (not before Kerreth and Sly both believed they had been hurt). This was followed by Reginald becoming Invisible. DOOM looked around confused, but upon the gestering of Cyric that something was indeed hidden in the water behind the island. Lord Lanceabit and Kerreth positioned themselves on the other side of the cavern (it has to be noted the Cyric joined them to ensure no “accidents” occured). Kerreth then cast Lightning Bolt and Lord Lanceabit threw a Javelin of Lighning at the water. What resulted was magical grenade fishing…. and a corpse of a 12’ fish floated to the surface. Sly joined the group as Cyric dragged the fish to shore hoping that it may have swallowed some gems. Sly performed the vivisection but nothing was found but a really bad rotten fish smell.
Cyric hurriedly volenteered to investiage the hole further (mostly to avoid the angry looking DOOM members). Using his gem with Continual Dark swam down the hole. At the base he discovered a large carved room but also a very angry looking (if lobsters can look angry) 12’ mother of a lobster. Cyric seeing himself becoming separted from his head, fled. But his speed failed him, the only thing that saved Cyric from the Giant Lobster pincers was Sly’s Stone Skin spell. Cyric shot up powered by Boots of Levitation, burst froth from the water and straight to the ceiling with the Giant Mother Loobster in hot pursuit. There was a collective groan from the remaining DOOM members (obviously hoping that Cyric would have met a tradgic end).
The fact that Loobsters don’t see in the tradition way ment that once Cyric had left the water he was “Invisible” to her. Thus once again another Giant Loobster rushed at the party. Once again Magic Missiles lept from the fingers of Kerreth and Sly while Reginald cast Slow upon the creature. Under the affect of the Slow spell Giant Mother Lobster could only look sad as it was hacked to death by Lord Lanceabit and the Magic Missiles from Kerreth and Sly.
Once agian Cyric retrieved his Fire Trapped oil and then tried to investiage the hole. This time finding a carved cavern with a portcullis at one end. Upon reporting his findings DOOM reported in …….ouchies everywhere and rest was required. Cyric cast Stone Shape upon a wall to make a safe hidding place but inadvertantly just opened a secret door into a alchemy lab. The lab was run by a one handed male Drow (under the thrall of the master, a 20’ fish with tentacles) but was happy to have DOOM stay. Once resting was completed more healing cast and DOOM prepared to investigate the hole throught the use of a Airy Water scroll used by Sly.
DOOM decended down the hole with the revitalised (after casting Remove Curse) Thraim taking the lead with Lord Lanceabit just behind. After lifting the portcullis DOOM moved down a corridor only to be attacked by 5 fishmen behind a poorly designed wall trap. Thraim, Lord Lanceabit and Kerreth quickly dispached the fishmen. The tunnel then appeared to do a U-bend but Thraim seemed to smash a Fishman through the wall, once again causing DOOM to exclaim “it’s an illusion”. This revealled a further 9 Fishmen moving to attack…….needless to say Thraim and Lord Lanceabit enjoyed themselves immensely.
Thus ended the night.
