As the almost non-members of DOOM continued pasted the umber hulks lair a decision of what passage was taken. A short trip down a corridor revealed a small cavern formed out of natural rock. Inside were two Driders. The party immediately leapt into action. A swarm of magic missiles and non-magic missiles flew from the fingers of Kerreth, Sly and Reginald. Thraim strode forward with his enlarged persona, followed meekly by Cyric. Lord Lanceabit froze and continued to hold the light at the rear of the party. As the Drider in the distance began to quiver as 15 magic missiles hit it, Thraim landed a heavy blow on the nearest Drider. Both their spells now disrupted as Cyric finished it off with a handy goodly whack from his stick. All was silent as both Driders twitched on the ground. As the party contemplated searching for any interesting goodies (not Sly or Cyric), 4 huge spiders attempted to rush and bite the non-surprised party. 3 of the four spiders were immediately blown to bits by a barrage of more magic missiles and the final one was splattered by a huge mace.
As the last spider lay twitching, a mass of black tentacles erupted in amongst the party. Being now seasoned adventures the party immediately avoided the grasping entanglements, taking only minor hits. They began to exit out of the area to encounter two more Driders and 4 spiders (defending their masters) at either end of the tunnels. Both Driders began to cast spells. The party had broken the cardinal rule of horror movies and separated. Sly and Reginald had run backwards as Kerreth, Thraim, Cyric and Lord Lanceabit had moved forwards. The Drider at the front appeared to be a mage and was casting more mage like spells, multiplying himself 6 times, but Thraim steadfastly saw nothing. Kerreth’s magic missiles cast at the same time hit several of the duplicates making them disappear and the Drider itself. Cyric hit the Drider with a thrown firebomb. Thraim splattered the huge spider in front of himself, after promising to hit the spider in front of Kerreth. However, at the last moment he hit the spider in front of himself, with a “ah ha, opps sorry I changed my mind”. In the tunnel at the back Sly and Reginald had cast more spells, with the spider being hit by magic missiles from Sly and a “ lightning bolt ” from Reginald, Sly disproved the lightning and took no effect, both spiders died pretending to be hit by lightning and wounding the Drider who again couldn’t cast hold person. A spider bit the Gnome, amazingly falling over unconscious. The Drider took umbrage at the Sly who had walked forward and stabbed him unbelievably hard and bit him in return. Sly fell unconscious immediately with a thespian like hand movement covering his eyes.
Meanwhile, at the front Kerreth had taken a bite from a huge spider, but wasn’t poisoned and drew her hateful rapier and stabbed it to death. Thraim threw a large bowling ball at the Drider in front, smashing its rib cage with a critical and leaving it very dead with only 47 points of damage from a single throw. Hearing the fight still going at the rear, Thraim discovered the Drider standing over his two unconscious friends. Enraged and Engorged he mightily cleaved with beast with a mighty whack, splattering it over the side wall with a single hit. Of course it was already wounded, by a “ lightning bolt ”, but still, Thraim saved the day. Seeing his best friend forever lying paralysed, he uttered the clerical spell of remove paralysis to rouse both Reginald and Sly immediately.
The party searched the dead Driders to discover some Gems, Moneys and magical longsword and Ring. Placing the items in the portable hole, they traipsed off down a passageway, that seemed to go on forever. 5 hours of walking they emerged into a very wide, tall and long (it went out of sight) cavern. Exhausted, the party turned invisible to rest as Thraim provided a hearty tea of 8 cubic feet of food and water (nutritious but bland). Kerreth identified the previously found gauntlets to discover they were Gauntlets of Swimming and Climbing, these were very generously given to Thraim. Sly identified a Necklace of adaption and it was given to Cyric. Sly covered himself in diamond dust. The now indivisible party, began to walk back uphill for another 7 hours to arrive up to where they left a day ago. A side cavern was chosen. A rotten smell emanating from the chamber.
6 Shrieker Mushrooms were discovered and Silenced by a spell cast by Cryic. Thraim enlarged and moved forward to splat the mushrooms with Typus the mace. The invisible party followed the now visible Thraim into the caverns. Two Sahuagin were discovered and attack by Thraim and Lord Lanceabit from his indivisibility hidey spot. Both Sahuagin, died instantly. A passage into some low lying water was discovered and Thraim volunteered to investigate, but fled immediately out of the pool as a swarm of giant leeches attacked. Only one attached itself to Thraim as Kerreth lightning bolted the pool killing many. Thraim splattered the one attached to him and the re-entered the pool to cleanse it of the remaining two leeches. No treasure was found in the pool as the now visible Kerreth and Thraim led the invisible DOOM off to another cavern with 8 Sahuagin harvesting mushrooms. Thraim attempted to communicate, using basic common and undercommon for them to move aside. The 8 Sahuagin, formed a unit with military like precision and moved to attack. The invisible Lord Lanceabit and Thraim attacked. More Sahuagin emerged from both passages, but were stopped in their tracks by a poorly thrown giant fireball from Kerreth. The explosion rocked the cavern sending the bodies of the now 28 Sahuagin in all directions. Unfortunately, the fireball also blew back and injured all the party (except for the protected Thraim and Cyric), knocking the spell caster Kerreth Unconscious, as she completely failed to save her own spell. Amazingly, her injury caused her blouse to be burnt off, but her belt remained. The now good Cyric healed her back to consciousness, rubbing her chest soothingly. She jerked awake, clutching her naked breasts and reached into her untouched backpack for he spare clothes, learning from the unlucky Sly and always having a spare set.
Day ends, as Kerreth demanded a rest and the rest of the party exhausted after the long hike and short fight. The pool at the back of the Sahuagin was investigated by the plate mail swimming dwarf, Thraim. Only darts were found in the pool as a roasted fish was mooted as the meal.
