Following on from the Dwarf punching tavern.
After debating with the owner of the tavern, who claimed all bet were null …. since his troll left the ring, a 6% stake in the tavern was aggreed to (thanks Reginald Darkmoon and his Eye’s of Charming). Also note all bet money was returned, even Kerreth who had bet against Thraim.
The two remaining dwarves were also turned. Thus DOOM had gained two retainers. These two dwarven friends then promised to help retrieve the money from the dwarven lair outside the city.
Also captured was Minimum who was trying to steal the winnings but was foiled when Sly Turner made everyones money disappear. Who offered to work for DOOM if something could be done about his depts…. Cyric and Sly Turner aggreed.
Now the real aventure, DOOM planned the great trek. Mules were purchased, good food and other equipment. Then after much excitment DOOM + 2 dwarves + Minimum went on an excusion outside the city (one days ride) to the farm…… note from Cyric how sad are we. Upon arrival at the the lair, moneys were aquired and then back to the safty of Waterdeep at night.
Back safely in Waterdeep. The next problem was Mimimum’s money lender….. so a visit was planned (while Reginald Darkmoon and Sly Turner trained). The job planned…. execution OK. The Money lender was not the reptable kind and was based in the dock district. At night, Cyric used Silence to mask our movements, had to back off while Sly Turner used his new found power “Knock” on the barred door. Then in. The two guards waited on the inside as the door opened…. well it is kind of obvious when a barred door opens by itself. A fight ensued, Fast Eddard attacked stabbing the first guard…. shock and horror ensued as 5 (yes, that’s 5 magic missiles) hit the target… Debate raged between the casters of Sly and Kerreth as to whose magic missiles actually killed the guard. Unfortunately for Sly, as Kerreth just happened to roll first it was Sly that he again has murdered another human.
At this point Sly Turner fell to his knees exclaiming why did I kill him ….. sob sob sob.
The other guard was quickly overpowered by Fast Eddard accompanied by the inept Thraim. Thraim had initially after planning this careful assault joined Eddard in the first wave through the door. Unfortunately for this brave dwarf, his tumble roll into the room was completely failed (with a 20) and resulted him tumbling into the wall outside. After finally managing to tumble in, Thraim carefully tumbled behind the remaining guard and then almost hit his own knee cap with a natural roll of 1. Despite this ineptitude Eddard suffered the slings and parries of outrageous action finally skewering the remaining guard as Kerreth finally rushed in to help. The thieves then carefully crept into the next room where all the money-lenders documents were discovered hidden in a locked and trapped desk and recuperated. In the final room the female money lender was asleep …. not for much longer as Thraim nearly ripped her in half (knocking her unconscious) with a head lock, after considering doing a leg lock or bear hug. All her money was taken (from under the bed) including a rather large gem that Fast Eddard noticed.
All in all not bad progress toward the Guild, money acquired, two loyal dwarves and Minimum added, two apprentices found (by Reginald Darkmoon) and the starting of the intelligence network (by Cyric). Oh and the Inn made its first profit (5gp).
